Hidden Figures,10’ x 10’

This piece was inspired by a desire to discover and newly available materials; namely, the gift of numerous ink bottles and a large roll of paper in a closeout sale. It is all about the process. I began by allowing individual drops of inks to flow from the top of the paper. Working from the top of a ladder I added layer upon layer of ink, a slow process over many weeks of ladder climbing. As an image of figures began to emerge I controlled the ink flow more from various areas to accentuate this composition. The lengthy time involved as I progressed was an important element in this work.
